FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS/Q&A

Please reach us at caltekruse@caconsult.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

OPC-DPS 23 is a single day to celebrate Olympic and Paralympic (OLY/PLY)) values and ideals globally in an inclusive, non-political manner. To join, all you have to do is register online and pick your Host City. That's it!

  • OPC-DPS 23 will be run in conjunction with and separate to the annual Olympic Day celebration (circa June 23). We are targeting OPC-DPS 23 events to take place on SATURDAY JUNE 24th, 2023, at 12 PM Noon (local time) to synchronize OPC-DPS 23 efforts globally.
  • OPC-DPS 23 will happen on every continent and in the 60 Host Cities (target number of past and awarded cities) of the Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Games.
  • NOTE: Other cities interested in joining OPC-DPS 23 as ‘Associate O&P 'Sister City’ can contact Project Manager Charles Altekruse.

Olympic and Paralympic (O&P) values and ideals are important to sport and life alike as they help build more healthy and vibrant individuals, communities, and society. It's important to remind the world what sport and the Games stand for in the lead up to the Paris 2024 Games. We do that by re-igniting and leveraging the passion and experience of the Host Cities of the Games worldwide in a single, unifying, and non-political global gesture.

  1. Register as an individual online by June 24, 2023  (you can organize and register your Host City Team to plan and implement your local program if you want).

  • Local Host City stakeholders (Athletes/Coaches, City/Local Officials, Legacy/OCOG Groups, and Others)  drive OPC-DPS 23 worldwide by registering online HERE.  They can also form a Host City Team and champion program design, approval, and implementation.
  • The campaign is inclusive and available to any local Host City Team stakeholder that supports the Olympic/Paralympic Spirit (and a few associate 'Sister/Associate Cities' too).
  • Charles Altekruse OLY (USA) and Andras ‘Andy’ Toro OLY (HUNGARY, USA) are coordinating OPC-DPS 23 on a global level.
  • If you are interested in joining our OPC-DPS 23 Global Advisory Board, please contact Charles at caltekruse@caconsult.org

OPC-DPS 23 will be independent and decentralized as well as complementary and reinforcing of other Olympic & Paralympic events (such as the June 23 Olympic Day) and entities (such as the IOC, IPC, NOCs, OCOGs, WOA, WUOC, etc.) We welcome the participation and support from all traditional OLY/PLY entities to help make our inaugural OPC-DPS 23 campaign a success...and lay the foundation for an even stronger 2024 campaign.

Olympic & Paralympic Spirit is embodied in our movements' core Values, Mission, and Vision/Ideals and establishes an ethical framework for sport and life alike:

  • OLY/PLY Values: Inspiration, Excellence, Courage, Respect, Determination, Friendship, Equality
  • OLY/PLY Mission: Use sport ‘to educate youth to contribute to building a better and more peaceful world’ towards ‘the harmonious development of mankind’ ... and ‘preservation of human dignity’ (Olympic Charter).
  • OLY/PLY Vision/Ideals: A world where every person can dream “Faster, Higher, Stronger – Together!’ (Olympic Motto) – regardless of race, creed, gender, age, nationality, or social standing.

Olympic & Paralympic stakeholders worldwide are building OLY/PLY PEACE DAY 202X to put PEACE at the forefront of our Games.

HERE'S WHY:

  • PEACE is part of the 3000-year-old Olympic & Paralympic (also abbreviated here as 'OLY/PLY') tradition.
  • The ancient Games put PEACE before war through the Olympic Truce. The modern Games were founded to build 'a peaceful and better world' through friendly competition.
  • The PARIS 2024 Games won at almost everything-except PEACE!

OLY/PLY PEACE DAY 202X celebrates PEACE & our Games together.

HERE'S HOW:

  1. We build global, biennial, and non-political PEACE DAY celebrations on the the eve of each new Games.
  2. We build our 62 Host Cities into 'Platforms of PEACE' (for all past and awarded Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Games sites).
  3. We build Host City Teams of dedicated and inspired stakeholders to build local programs and share OLY/PLY PEACE PRINCIPLES. As with all Olympic & Paralympic dreams, we start small and dream big, building into something that inspires the world!
