OLY PLY CITIES (OPC) FAQs/Program components

What is OLY PLY CITIES/OPC?

  • Global, biennial, non-political, athlete/volunteer-driven, and PEACE-themed events,  programs, and activities in Host Cities of the Olympic, Paralympic, and Youth Games.  


  • Celebrating the 'Spirit of the Games' -- peaceful competition conducted in a spirit of excellence, respect, friendship as well as courage, inspiration, equality, and courage.

When do OPC Celebrations take place?

  • Celebrations will start on the first day of the biennial  IOC/UN-sponsored 'Olympic Truce Period' for each new Games -- in other words 1 week before the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games.

  • The inaugural OLY PLY CITIES Celebrations and Flame Lighting will be at LA 28 on Friday July 7, 2028 the first day of the 2028 Olympic Truce period (1 week before the Opening Ceremonies of the LA 2028 Games) ... and so on for the French Alps 2030, Brisbane 2032, and all following Games. 


  • OPC Celebrations and programs run in conjunction with local PEACE partners can occur one the start day of the Olympic Truce Period, or before, during, and after the official Olympic Truce Period

Who is OPC for?

  • You, everyone, all humanity - The Olympic & Paralympic Games and Values belong to the entire world! You do not need to be an Olympian or Paralympian to join OLY PLY CITIES and become a champion of PEACE.


  • Host City Teams are made up of diverse stakeholders, including Games' athletes, officials, and volunteers, government officials, PEACE organizations, legacy groups (such as Olympic museums, institutes, foundations, and training sites), as well as local tourism, business, media, sporting, civil society, and schools groups.


  • Supporters from anywhere in the world are invited join and support any Host City Team -- and can join more than one Host City Team if it is a city where they lived, competed, worked...or simple love! 

How do I support and join OLY PLY CITIES?

Join/create a Host City Team here!


  • We are now building Host City Teams, events, sponsors, and PEACE partners in every Host City. As with all OLY/PLY dreams, we start small and dream big, growing into something amazing that inspires the world!


  • When you join OPC you will automatically be added tp our global virtual PEACE Mural.

What are the OLY/PLY PEACE PRINCIPLES?

Our movements' core Values, Mission, and Vision/Ideals constitute the foundation of Olympic & Paralympic Spirit as well as a framework for ethical, productive, and healthy sport and life alike. These are expressed in our OPC Proclamation.


What are OPC Add-on Programs (events and activities)?

 Local Host City Teams determine the scope of local events and activities based on available resources with the following guidelines:


  • All participating Host City Teams adhere to a 'Core Program' as follows:

  1. Create of local Host City Team 
  2. Re-light an Olympic/Paralympic PEACE FLAME (real or proxy).
  3. Promote and distribute OLY PLY City Proclamation and Shield.


  • Add-on programs could include: 

  1. Partnership opportunities (PEACE, media, school/youth, and sponsorship organizations)


Ideas for OPC events, activities, and venues include:

  • Athlete-led gatherings and discussion groups
  • PEACE/Torch runs or walks
  • City Hall Proclamation readings
  • Museum/School/Youth Club Presentations
  • Training Center/Sport Club Open Houses
  • Parade of Nations celebrations with Youth, Schools, Clubs
  • Release of symbolic doves or lanterns
  • Music Concerts
  • School/Youth PEACE Poster & Poetry Competitions
